Me, my behavior, greater internet fuckwad syndrome

Tue Aug 30, 2005, 6:57 PM
Explanation

Well, this is me. I suffer from greater internet fuckwad syndrome. To those who don't know me, I'm also known as Pi most everywhere else. Don't worry too much if I annoy you - it was probably intended. I come off as an abrasive ass most of the time, but once you get to know me, that tends to go away.

And considering that you've already got one war on you page, I feel compelled to start another.

There's more to life than numbers and neurophysics... There's rock 'n' roll, saving the world, and getting the girl in the end.

welcome to devart and ty for the help ^.^ -hugs tightly-

Oh and another thing,

debian > gentoo

if i needed anything to run faster, (which i didnt, even on my p75 box),
i could compile it too. gentoo isnt the only distro that lets you compile stuff.
:icongreyhat:
Pi fscking kicks ass at linux, and hes given me shitloads of help. So I care.

BTW

YHBT, YHL. HAND... :-D
:iconptnplanet:
Now stop commenting about my gentoo dist!
What are all these screens about? Wanting to show everybody how much a linux-1337 you are? Does someone care?
Please reply, ANYONE, if you care about his linux-skills!
:iconmrtheplague:
OH and also. Debunking another of your idiotic claims:

You say that "I think the installiation of gentoo is interessting and does teach you more about linux. As a former windows-user I didn't understand a lot about the linux-system, filesystems etc. Just by installing gentoo (and thats not only watching it compile) I learned a lot about the stuff."

You learned what about the filesystems, exactly? How reiserfs uses a journalled balanced-tree structure? How ext2 uses a linked list? How ext3 is a journalling patch on top of ext2? Any comparisons and contrasts between those will apply to ANY linux distribution. You "learned" how to follow a monkey script from gentoo.org.
:iconptnplanet:
tststs. I think you don't read my comments correctly, and where was the a "idiotic claims"??
During the setup of gentoo, I HAD TO learn about the file systems.
And this "monkey script" doesn't do everything, there's still a lot to do yourself!

I'm not going to argue with you any more. It's just silly. That's what five-year olds do.

These screens are called "command lines" which is where unixen are traditionally congfigured. Unix greybeards, if they use X at all, use X to launch more xterms than they have vtys. Linux is NOT ready for the desktop. UNIX screenshots are supposed to look like what I have, with MAYBE a mozilla-firefox or xmms or some other useful tool running in the background.

99% of 'linux' screenshots are made by people who want a Mac but are too poor to buy one. "ZOMG LOOK AT ME! I INSTALLED TEH GENTOO ON MY 200 DOLLAR PC THAT RAN WINDOZE AND THEN MADE IT LOOK LIKE $3000 APPLE HARDWARE WITH A THEME!! IM SO CLEVER"

Your nebulous claims about optimization mean nothing in the real world. I've INSTALLED gentoo once, actually. Setup took far too long, plus, debian ran JUST AS FAST on the same machine. I've also installed FreeBSD (a REAL MAN'S 'compile-everything' *nix) and Slackware Linux, and there was *no speed difference*
